Aliens 1986 - Hadley's Hope - Fan Art (v2)

Hi everyone, I'm excited to share some improvements I've made to the Hadley's Hope fan art project that I posted a few months ago.

I've refined the lighting, grunge/wear, post processing, cameras, and more.

The Hadley's Hope corridor from Aliens is such an iconic and beautifully crafted design. It's something that has inspired me for many years so I wanted to try recreating it in Unreal Engine.

Everything in this scene was made from scratch (props, materials, shaders, masks, icons/logos, etc) using Blender, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine.

I created 6 tiling materials and 2 trim sheets that were used to surface everything using a layered material system with context specific blend modes. All geo was modeled in Blender and I relied heavily on my trim sheets + POM to achieve more complex details. I'm using Lumen for GI and reflections as well as mega lights.

My main goals with this project were to:
- Create my own master shader and establish a workflow for environment art assets that balances speed, scalability, reusability, performance, and quality.
- Stay true to iconic reference while adding in details (when needed) to help ground elements without compromising the overall integrity of the concept.
- Explore, exercise, and grow my love for storytelling and the Alien universe.

HUGE thanks to Ben Close, Stefan Groenewoud, and Kim Kirchstein for taking the time to provide honest and direct feedback throughout the process.

I also want to thank and give credit to Peter Lamont and all the others incredible artists who designed and constructed the original design for this hallway.

Overall I learned a ton working on this project and created many tools and workflows that I can leverage moving forward. I am still not fully satisfied with the end result. Perhaps I will follow up with some improvements in the near future.

Thanks so much for taking a look and I hope to publish a breakdown soon showing the materials, shaders, blending techniques and more!
